COMMENTARY: NGC5907 is an almost edge-on galaxy, inclined only about 7 degrees to our line of sight, in the Constellation Draco. It has an extremely flat disc, very enlongated, and produced Supernova 1940A, seen on February 16, 1940. A fairly prominent dust lane shows up in long exposure photographs of this beautiful galaxy over 40 million light-years distant.
