NGC2024 Flame Nebula

DETAILS: Imaged 10-31-05 with the 12.5" Truss RC on a Paramount ME German Equatorial Mount, using an ST-10XME at f6.8 through Tru-Balance filters. One hour of unbinned Luminance combined with 10 minutes each of RGB, using MaxIm DL, Photoshop CS, RegiStar, and other processing plug-ins and techniques. COMMENTARY: The Flame Nebula, located in the Constellation Orion, is an emission nebula energized by Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) and other nearby massive hot stars near the neighboring Horsehead Nebula just to the right of Alnitak.
